A signed copy of Mitsuru Nishimura's zine, Moscow, featuring photographs of people gathering in Moscow clubhouses.
The first place was a grindcore-style live music venue that Sasha from "sputnik 1985" invited me to. It
was truly terrifying to see the huge Russian men moshing with blood flowing from their heads, but there were also drunk girls jumping in, and people with unfocused eyes... it was a chaotic space and so much fun!
In Moscow in September, the daytime temperature is only about 5 degrees Celsius, and I thought everyone in the city was quiet, but it seems that young people are letting their emotions explode in underground places like this.
The second place was NII, a club produced by designer Gosha Rubchinskiy. I went
to NII several times during my stay and became friends with the staff member Alexandra, who introduced me to Gosha, who happened to be there that night. I was also thrilled when she introduced me to BUT TECHNO.
I visited Moscow in the fall of 2017. At the time, I was fascinated by the worldviews of Moscow's modeling agency (LUMPEN) and designer Gosha Rubchinskiy, which sparked my interest in the city.
To capture the atmosphere of Moscow, I wanted to add some graininess, so I printed it on rough paper.
Since I used a laser printer, I think the roughness further enhanced the sense of realism.
